Kansas Juvenile Correctional Complex West - Female is the only JJA facility that serves female youth sentenced by the district courts of Kansas. The facility commenced operations on the grounds of the former Topeka Youth Center on August 19, 2009. The former Beloit Juvenile Correctional Facility was established in 1890 as the Girls Industrial School, and was historically known as GIS, the Beloit Youth Center, and the Beloit Juvenile Correctional Facility. Beloit Juvenile Correctional Facility ceased operations August 19, 2009. KJCC West – Female has a funded operational capacity of 30 youth.
